SMI Arts & Science College, Kunhipally was established in 2015. It is run by Chombal Kunhippally Paripalana Committee. The college is named after Sheikh Zainuddeen Makhdoom II. He was an Islamic multilingual scholar, diplomat, an aspiring teacher, author and an orator. Sheikh Zainuddeen Makhdoom II was born in 1530. He travelled to Makkah for higher education and mastered all branches of Islamic knowledge. Sheikh Makhdoom stood as an icon for freedom and religious harmony.Makhdoom breathed his last at Chombala.
